PMA Foundation Scholarship Winners Announced
The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Foundation for Industry Talent announced the third annual Tip Murphy Scholarship for Leadership Excellence recipients for 2013. Tony Harmon, Nathel International, and Juliette King, Nielsen Perishables Group, were selected by the PMA Foundation and the Scholarship Selection Committee.

Scientists Discover Way to Make Broccoli Stay Fresher Longer
Vegetables are getting healthier. Researchers at the University of Illinois have identified two natural compounds that can be sprayed onto broccoli to increase the vegetable's cancer-fighting properties and prolong its shelf life. Scientists discovered that when methyl jasmonate is sprayed on plants a few days prior to harvest, it encourages broccoli's production of glucosinolates.
