Lipman, North America's largest open-field tomato grower, recently announced that it will add a logistics division called Lipman Logistics Services, Inc. to its integrated network of services, making the company a full-service brokerage.
"Lipman Logistics Services will allow us bring all of our transportation in-house and to better manage our needs nationwide," said John Payne, general manager at Lipman Logistics Services. "This new division furthers our ability to deliver field-fresh produce to our clients 365 days a year."
Based out of the company's Hendersonville, N.C., location, the brokerage will utilize a cutting-edge technology system to manage the fuel-efficient fleet. Joe Filipski, a 19-year veteran of the produce industry, recently joined Lipman to serve as director, where he will oversee the division and its growth.
Lipman commands a significant percentage of the fresh tomato industry, with 30 locations throughout the United States and Mexico.
