Pentair Ltd. marked the grand opening of its West Texas Service Center with a celebration at the new facility that included a catered barbecue lunch, tours of the building, product and capability demonstrations, raffle prizes, live music and more.
The West Texas Service Center is designed to serve the growing needs of distributors and well drillers in both the agricultural and domestic water systems markets, giving Pentair a footprint in the largest agricultural irrigation market in the U.S. "Our customers have been asking for this facility due to the high demand for Pentair products," said Gary Witt, president of Pentair's Flow Technologies business unit.
The 18,000-square-foot facility was designed using lean manufacturing principles for material flow and stocking as well as in the assembly, machining and paint cells.
"The layout of the plant allows us to respond quickly to our customers' needs, meaning we can build, machine, paint and deliver pumps and motors in the same day, if necessary," said Al Pouria, operations manager. The test pit has capabilities to run up to 150 hp motor/pump combinations, allowing customers to receive certified test results as well as providing service/repair/rebuild for existing pumps. The service center is located on five acres of property, making future expansion possible.
The West Texas Service Center supports the Pentair distributors and their customers in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana and Mississippi with agricultural products such as Berkeley centrifugal and submersible turbine pumps, Fairbanks Nijhuis vertical line shaft turbine pumps and Pentek and Hitachi submersible motors. For its residential water systems customers, the West Texas Service Center is a stocking location for Sta-Rite 4-inch pumps and Pentek 4-inch submersible motors. "Agriculture is a growth market for Pentair," says Witt, "and our West Texas Service Center shows that we are committed to serving our customers' needs in the largest market in the U.S."
