Bayer CropScience is currently seeking nominations for its second annual Bee Care Community Leadership Award. Honeybees are a spark plug of agriculture, as they pollinate 70 percent of the top 100 food and fiber crops that we all enjoy. The importance of keeping bees healthy is seen all around us, which is why Bayer would like to celebrate individuals who have used the power of the honeybee to improve their communities.
The award recognizes an individual who has utilized beekeeping to create innovative projects that benefit a community. The award, an initiative of Bayer's North American Bee Care Program, provides a $5,000 grant to the winner, to be used in support of a community beekeeping project. The winner will also receive an all-expense-paid trip to a reception in Washington, D.C., on June 17, at the U.S. Botanic Gardens during National Pollinator Week. The deadline for submission is May 9.
Applicants are judged on their ability to improve a community by leveraging the intrinsic workings of a honeybee hive. Download your application for the 2014 Bayer Bee Care Community Leadership Award here
