Governor Baker Declares September as Massachusetts Apple Month
Governor Charlie Baker declared September as “Massachusetts Apple Month” to support Massachusetts apple growers, especially during the current drought conditions. The declaration was followed by a visit to Wojick Orchard in Blackstone by Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Matthew Beaton and Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) Commissioner John Lebeaux.

UVM Extension Receives Grant to Advance Cover Cropping and No-Till Farming in Vermont
The University of Vermont (UVM) Extension has received a two-year grant from the State of Vermont to help farms in the Missisquoi Bay watershed address water quality through the use of new no-till and cover cropping tools. The grant, led by agronomy and soil specialist Dr. Heather Darby, is part of the state’s Ecosystem Restoration Program, a grant program administered by the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Department of Environmental Conservation.
