Growers, vendors and suppliers in the southeastern fruit and vegetable industry are invited to Savannah, Ga., on January 6-9, 2011, for the largest educational conference and trade show in the southeastern United States. Educational programs and trade show activities will be held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.

This conference is sponsored by the Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association and the South Carolina Peach Council. The conference is held in partnership with Clemson University; Georgia Blueberry Growers Association; Georgia Muscadine Association; Georgia Organics, Inc.; Georgia Peach Council; Georgia Pecan Association; Georgia Strawberry Association; Georgia Watermelon Association; Georgia/South Carolina Certified Roadside Markets; North American Raspberry & Blackberry Association; South Carolina Muscadine Growers; South Carolina Strawberry Growers; South Carolina Vegetable Association; Southern Region Small Fruit Consortium; University of Georgia; and Vidalia Onion Committee.

Special events include a welcome reception and live auction held on the trade show floor; the general session with special guests and speakers; the Saturday night reception held at the Westin Savannah Harbor; the annual silent auction; an industry roundtable (GFVGA, GA/SC Peach Councils, Watermelon, Muscadine, Strawberry, Blueberry, Onion, Pecan, Blackberry/Raspberry and Organic Associations are invited) discussing issues of mutual concern to growers and suppliers alike; and much more.

Educational Conference

A major part of this event is the educational conference, offering commodity-specific information for peach, general vegetable, muscadine, pecan, Vidalia onions, blueberry, sweet corn, raspberries and blackberries, watermelon and strawberry. There are also educational programs focusing on food safety, organic production and roadside marketing, and new this year is business operations.

Learn the latest trends and new research, hear cutting-edge information and discover solutions that will take your business to the next level. The educational program is tailored to provide what you need to know to be competitive in today’s market, with nationally renowned speakers to help increase your knowledge base and market share. Be sure to bring key support staff with you in order to cover all the concurrent sessions offered. During the four-day conference, over 85 hours of production training, pest management information and marketing updates are offered to attendees.

In addition, agricultural scientists will present results of their studies in posters for your review. All educational sessions will be held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center, across the Savannah River on Hutchinson Island.
