Uesugi Farms has expanded their retail line with their third value-added product: mini sweet peppers. Uesugi Farms decided to add another pepper variety to their mix. Their production of mini sweet peppers started in Mexico a little less than a year ago and is currently happening in Gilroy, CA.
DETECTO Releases New D Series Price Computing Scales
DETECTO has released the new D series price computing scales that offer up to 99 PLUs. The D series displays Weight, Unit Price, and Total Price on the front and rear backlit LCDs (up to six 0.5-in/13-mm high digits). The scale offers a dual power source of rechargeable battery pack and 110/120VAC 50/60 Hz adapter (included).
Online Course Helps Growers Prevent Illegal Pesticide Residues
The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program (UC IPM) has developed a new online course geared toward helping growers understand and follow label instructions. The program, Proper Pesticide Use to Avoid Illegal Residues, is targeted to those who apply pesticides or make pesticide recommendations. It explains what pesticide residues are, how they are monitored, and highlights important residue-related information from several sections of pesticide labels.
